Stars in Coma are satisfying the seemingly insatiable hunger for Swedish pop with their up coming album, Midnight Puzzle. With the release only a week away (Apr. 24), the album has been raking in the praise. Sleep Walking Magazine says of Andrė Brorsson, chief songwriter of Stars, “I take my hat off to you sir. You are a genius.” Mitten Mouth Music says of the band, “Stars In Coma …is just the kind of band I like: easily accessible and with melody enough to bob my head to while chillin’ in a universe that’s totally alright with my chillin’.” The band has also gained attention from Under the Radar, which hopes that, “Perhaps with the track ‘And So,’ off the group’s latest release Midnight Puzzle, the group could finally find a way past U.S. customs.”

André Brorsson has been making albums for friends since he was in high school, hidden away in his bedroom playing all the instruments himself. He draws inspiration from folk, rock, dance music and pop. Since he started making albums, the music has moved through periods of guitar dominated rock, disco and swooning romanticism, all of which come together in a perfect creative storm on the latest Stars in Coma release Midnight Puzzle. “Midnight Puzzle refers to all the weird thoughts you have when you’re lying in bed at night. Trying to sort out those thoughts is like a puzzle to me. The songs suggested chord structures that were more sophisticated than anything I’ve done before. I almost went crazy making this album, but I’m proud of the production and the songwriting. It’s a big step forward for me.”

Praise for Stars in Coma

“Stars In Coma have released several EPs and gained plaudits on both sides of the Atlantic, touring several countries and performing at Indietracks in 2010. We spoke to Andre about writing, performing and drunkenly chatting to old men in foreign bars…”
-Soundsxp

“It’s about time we had some more Swedish indie/pop.”
-The Sound Of Confusion

“Over the course of “Midnight puzzle”, they somehow manage to be all things to most listeners…and they do so brilliantly.”
-It’s a Trap!

Stars in Coma brainchild André Brorsson is essentially a Swedish doppleganger of Kevin Barnes and his psychedelic pop outlet of Montreal. Formed in Malmö in 2005, the band has three proper albums, toured and played festivals throughout the UK and Europe, but have had little crossover in terms of stateside recognition. Perhaps with the track “And So,” off the group’s latest release Midnight Puzzle, the group could finally find a way past U.S. customs.
-Under The Radar

Swedish indie-pop band Stars In Coma fronted by André Brorsson is just the kind of band I like: easily accessible and with melody enough to bob my head to while chillin’ in a universe that’s totally alright with my chillin’.
-Mitten Mouth Music

“Malmo’s Stars in Coma…music is catchy indiepop of the Swedish species, especially the floaty ‘Peacebloom’ with its clever hint of Afrobeat.”
-Sounds XP

“Andrė Brorsson, creative-in-chief of the band, I take my hat off to you sir. You are a genius.”
-Sleep Walking Magazine

“Stars in Coma’sPeacebloom (melodic Afro-tinged cheery goodness)”
