Upon the heels of their debut full length album release, Tiger Child, The Young Romans are currently occupying the coveted Indie Spotlight feature on iTunes for the synonymous title track of the record. Brad Hooks (guitar, vocals) is a classically trained piano player and made his way from North Carolina to Los Angeles as a teenager to pursue music. He met the Chilean born Sari Mellafe (guitar, vocals) through mutual friends who were quick to point out the complimentary blend of the duo’s vocals. The pair soon discovered after working together that not only did their vocals compliment each other, but that all the right molecules were mixing when it came to songwriting. They quickly cut three demo tracks and sent them to producers not knowing what to expect. The tracks caught the attention of numerous producers including Jim Roach of Red Parade Music who signed them to the Los Angeles based label.
In early 2011 the duo was asked to write the end-title track for the Ewan McGregor and Emily Blunt film Salmon Fishing in the Yemen. The result was “Where You Are,” which made its big screen debut when the movie was released this March. “Where You Are” appears on Tiger Child and acted as the catalyst for writing the rest of the record.
