The 11th edition of ACL Festival is locked and loaded with the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Neil Young and Crazy Horse, The Black Keys, Jack White, Florence + The Machine, and The Avett Brothers topping the 130-band-strong lineup. Avicii, Bassnectar, The Roots, Iggy & the Stooges, The Shins, Weezer, Gotye, and The Civil Wars are also on tap to rock Zilker Park in October.
This year’s roster crosses generations, genres and international borders, delivering one of ACL Festival’s most diverse lineups to date. Sounds from Gotye (Belgium), M83 (France), Metric (Canada), Die Antwoord (South Africa), Kimbra (New Zealand), Los Campesinos! (Wales), Jovanotti (Italy), Sonámbulo (Costa Rica), and others will demonstrate that music truly is the universal language.
Closer to home, Austin locals Ruthie Foster, Quiet Company, Wheeler Brothers, The Eastern Sea, and Wild Child are also slated to take the stage in Zilker Park.
ACL 2012 will welcome back favorite alumni from the past decade, including Tegan and Sara, Thievery Corporation, Andrew Bird, Gary Clark Jr., Delta Spirit, Steve Earle, Old ’97’s, and making their 11th straight appearance at the Festival, Asleep at the Wheel.
Among the long list of ACL newcomers and artists for fans to discover are Alabama Shakes, Esperanza Spalding, Trampled By Turtles, POLICA, Zola Jesus, Ben Howard, Childish Gambino, and Oberhofer.
Tickets are available this morning only for those loyal ACL E-list subscribers who registered for the pre-sale last week during the designated time frame. Ticket sales updates will be released on Wednesday morning at 10am.
Last week, ACL Festival teased the 2012 lineup with its ACL Lineup Lottery, delivering scratch and win tickets to 28 local businesses to distribute to fans. Lotto tickets flew out of stores within hours of each day’s announcement as fans learned the names of bands on the lineup, won tickets to the Festival, and scored other great prizes furnished by Sugar Mama’s Bakeshop, Coolhaus Ice Cream, Galaxy Café and Bird’s Barbershop.
