Hot Water Music’s EXISTER debuted this week at number #33 on the Billboard Top Current Albums this week with over 10,400 records sold. This marks the band’s highest debut in its illustrious career. Exister, which was released on May 15, 2012 via Rise Records also logged in at #3 Vinyl Albums, #8 Independent Albums, #3 Top Hard Music Albums, #15 Top Current Rock Albums, and #78 Overall Digital Albums (#68 Current Digital Albums). Considering this is their first full-length album in over eight years, it’s quite a warm welcome from fans, both old and new. The release of the record was benchmarked by a handful of sold out shows on both coasts. East Coast fans were treated to a sold out First Unitarian Church show in Philadelphia (it sold out in a little over an hour), and two nights at the Gramercy Theatre in New York. The band will finish out their new release festivities this week on the West Coast with two sold out shows in California – the first at the Satellite in Los Angeles this Thursday, and the second at The Glasshouse in Pomona Saturday night. In addition, the band will head out this fall supporting Rise Against, along with The Gaslight Anthem (tour dates below).

Unanimously glowing, reviews for Exister have been pouring in by the bucketload. SPIN says, “the post-hardcore heroes didn’t outgrow anxiety, they gave it hooks.” In its 4.5 star review, Alternative Press says, “Exister serves as a reminder that the thousands of bands aping this style of punk will never be as great as Hot Water Music.” On the other side of the pond, Kerrang! applauds, “Given this brilliant return, there’s a good chance they’re still your favourite band’s favourite band.”

Exister was recorded this past January at the Blasting Room in Fort Collins, CO with Descendents’ Bill Stevenson (Bouncing Souls, Rise Against, NOFX) at the helm, “Recording the album was amazing… better than any of us expected, for sure,” bassist Jason Black says. “It seems like the time off, coupled with everything we’ve all learned doing other projects and honing our respective crafts during that time, really worked in our favor and enabled us to have a basically unending flow of ideas and creative sparks.”

Hot Water Music is Chuck Ragan (vocals, guitar), Chris Wollard (vocals, guitar), Jason Black (bass), and George Rebelo (drums). Exister was produced by Bill Stevenson and was released on May 15, 2012 on Rise Records.
