As a thank you for helping the “Ride With Me” EP break the top 20 on Beatport’s dubstep album charts, Psymbionic has put together an alternate take of the title track in true ‘VIP‘ form. This free download explores the innate connection between slower instrumental hip hop and dubstep, complete with large 808 hits and broken drum patterns. Just as the tune is sinking in, Psymbionic flips it on it’s head with a healthy dose of glitchy yet melodic sound design.  Fans of labels such as Dub Police and SMOG should definitely give this track a thorough listen.

Ride With Me‘, the sophomore EP from Austin, TX producer Psymbionic, debuts April 3rd, 2012. The five-track release, set to come out on the Bay Area’s bass music lightning-rod MalLabel Music, contains two hefty original works and remixes from Starkey, Truth, and Omega.

The title track ‘Ride With Me‘ launches the EP into a heavy yet melodic mood, filled with slices of textured and distorted bass. “Potential” sweeps to a lighter note of dubstep with it’s rave stabs, drum shuffles, and synth switch ups that keep the tune both weighty and playful. Tracks 3-5 all contain alternate dimensions of “Ride With Me“; the first take from New Zealand’s Truth is suspended in a spacey and nebulous atmosphere, with dark inclusions eclipsing the lighter elements of the original. Starkey‘s chopped and screwed commotion studies the contrast of flavor between its predecessors and the distilled influence of grime. The final act, courtesy of Omega, dances along the lines of drumstep and drum&bass for an upbeat tour of ritualistically enjoyable synth lines and builds.

With this release, Psymbionic demonstrates the evolution critical to the rise of a large and resounding presence in the electronic music industry. 2012 is a big year both for this upcoming producer and MalLabel Music: the character of ‘Ride With Me‘ is a signal of impressive things to come.
