Basilica is working in collaboration with international music
organizers and connoisseurs, Pitchfork’s Brandon Stosuy and Brian
DeRan of Leg Up Management, to program a unique, carefully curated
weekend program of a wide range of performance and art that aims for specific connections and overlaps instead of “festival”-style
overload. Hudson artist and welder Kris Perry’s MACHINE’S will occupy
the industrial factory space on Friday night, while flocked by a small
army of noise and metal artists. Saturday night is anchored by NYC’s
Gang Gang Dance and their friends in music and visual arts. This
weekend promises to be the first of many multi layered weekends of
vanguard to come to the Hudson river waterfront.

Blazer S.S. is a New Mexico based sound system specializing in heavy dub, roots, ragga, and dancehall. Based on Jamaican and UK DJ sound system culture, Blazer S.S. uses massive speakers, subwoofers, vinyl, and tape echo/reverb for live dubbing. The system is owned and operated by Excepter’s Zebrablood aka Nathan Corbin.

Brandon Stosuy is Editor at Pitchfork. He writes Pitchfork’s monthly
metal column, Show No Mercy, curates a series of underground metal
shows using that name, and works as a Music Curator at MoMA/PS1’s
annual “Warm Up” series. Stosuy has collaborated with the artist
Matthew Barney on various multi-media events and two zines, TUBAL CAIN and ADAC, and has worked with Kai Althoff, Peter Sotos, Philip Best (Whitehouse), Brody Condon, Sasha Grey, Michael Gira/Swans, Tony Conrad, and others on installations and performances. His anthology of Downtown New York literature, Up Is Up, But So Is Down, was selected by the Village Voice as one of their 25 favorite books of 2006.

Kris Perry’s MACHINES, a collection of large kinetic musical sculptures.
Brian DeRan co-founded Monitor records in 2000, signing the likes of Cass McCombs, Oxes and Part Chimp among others. Brian also is a part owner of the Baltimore music venue, The Ottobar, which caters to national and international avant, metal and indie artists. He is the founder and owner of LEG UP! MANAGEMENT who’s current roster contains Neon Indian, The Black Lips, Pure X, and past artists include Animal Collective, Panda Bear, and Battles. Brian’s newest venture is GLEAM HOUSE which is an outlet for art, books, music, and event organizing, with many projects currently in the works.
The Basilica Hudson is an artist owned and operated reclaimed 19th
century factory, converted into an art and performance space.
