I was unfamiliar with the intricacies of the triathlon before picking up the Complete Triathlon Guide. This book goes into detail not only about the events that take place, but the workouts that will create the largest benefit to those looking to compete in a triathlon. The book, written by USA Triathlon is divided in an intuitive fashion. Rather than having individuals immediately exercise for the events, the book gives readers the tool to create their overall game plan from beginning to successful completion of a triathlon.

For those that are not familiar with the triathlon, it consists of three events – swimming, biking, and running. The Complete Triathlon Guide dedicates chapters to all three events, and divides the titles into sections for training, technique, and strategy. Taken all together (and with discussions about the ramifications of overtraining and overall lifestyle), what the Complete Triathlon Guide does is nothing less than revolutionary.

The Complete Triathlon Guide is a must-have for anyone that is looking to increase their overall fitness or compete at any level on a triathlon. Human Kinetics has created a title that is the end-all, be-all for the event, and has done so at a price ($13.17 for digital versions) that is incredibly cheap. The textual and visual aspects of the title makes for an interesting (rather than dry) read, and decreases the possibility that individuals will be doing anything incorrectly. The title is written in a fashion that college graduates and those still in high school will understand and be captivated; for any individual that uses running, biking, or swimming in their exercise, the book represents a welcome addition to their library. Buy it from online retailers or physical bookstores; the Complete Triathlon Guide is a success all around.
