Having recently announced his forthcoming album, America, out August 28th (North America) / August 27th (Rest of the world) on Domino, Dan Deacon is set to head out on a major headlining North American tour this autumn, performing with his streamlined ensemble of two drummers — Jeremy Hyman of Boredoms, Ponytail; Kevin O’Meara of Videohippos — with America producer Chester Endersby Gwazda joining Dan on electronics.

Dan Deacon shows are renowned for the spectacle of hundreds, even thousands, of jubilant people doing coordinated movement. It’s a sight to behold, but it’s even more amazing to participate. And for Deacon, what is ostensibly just “fun” started to take on a profound dimension since the release of 2009’s Bromst, of people uniting and claiming physical space in an ecstatic act of empowerment. He saw a metaphor in there, a connection with recent movements like the Arab Spring and Occupy Wall Street. America is the soundtrack of that realization – ecstatic, celebratory sounds in conjunction with thematically darker undercurrents.

The America Tour’s streamlined four-piece —  trimmed down from the 14-musician Bromst ensemble — retains the energy of a live band, while staying true to the music’s throbbing electronic pulse.

America will be available on CD, LP, cassette and digitally. A special pre-order is available right now through Domino: http://dominorecordco.com/america

Fans who pre-order the CD, limited edition translucent LP (limited to 500), or digitally through Domino will be sent immediately upon purchase a 2 feet x 3 feet flag featuring the America album artwork taken by Richard Endres of Lake Placid. The very same flag accompanying the “Lots” single ! All LPs, CDs and downloads will ship to arrive around street date [Aug 28th]. Remember, the flags are available to purchase as a stand alone item from both the Domino Mart and the Dan Deacon merch table as well.

However you get it, between the day you receive it and October 1st, it’s on you to take a photograph of your flag waving, trailing, flapping or resting somewhere significant and share it with us on Tumblr and/or Instagram with the hash tag #dandeaconamerica and you’re automatically entered in DAN DEACON WINNABLE FLAG PHOTO CONTEST. We’re looking for two undeniable images to use as the cover of a forthcoming Dan Deacon single as well as a limited run of posters in addition to a cash prize. Rules and restrictions are applicable and we do ask you try to avoid breaking the law and/or putting yourself in danger in pursuit of the ultimate photo.
