Baltimore-based hellion Phoebe Jean Dunne, a one girl band with an army of sound, released her debut album Heartbreakers this week via the French label Lentonia Records distributed in the US by Nail Distribution.

The album is streaming now at AOL’s Spinner site and the video for lead single “Day Is Gone” (featuring the Shake Off Twinz who have also been seen with M.I.A. and Rye Rye) was recently posted at My Old Kentucky Blog. An appropriately titled feature “Dunne Deal” on Phoebe is also now online via the Baltimore City Paper.

Associated early on with the Baltimore club scene, Phoebe is quick to note that “My music is not electro!” and goes on to clarify her position as a women in a predominantly male dominated scene, saying, “I wrote and produced all of the songs on this album.” Phoebe concludes with a wink, “People think there is a boy behind my beats, but nope, I’m really just that dope!”

That said, Phoebe acknowledges that she “got some good help here and there with a couple of nice details inside, but these sounds are mine and I am proud to be more than just some girl with a pretty face and a microphone. I always wanted to play with the big boys, do what they did but better, I studied production, learned the shit, worked hard and now I can.”

Heartbreakers by Phoebe Jean & The Air Force is out now. See below for upcoming live dates. Phoebe Jean is available for interviews. Contact Josh Bloom at Fanatic for more information.
