There have been a number of upgrades made to the DotP title. I believe that the inclusion of battles on specific planes have to be one of the biggest of these, as they provide additional lore to the campaign setting. Players will have to go up against Liliana on Innistrad and Jace on Ravnica.
The best inclusion to DotP 2013 has to be the presence of the planechase dynamic. Planechaser is a multi-player variant that shakes things up through a number of different planes. A player attempts to wrest control of the battle by moving to one of their planes, which will provide interesting effects to the game. For those that have burned through the normal campaign settings, the Revenge setting increases the difficulty and will ensure that players have to play their hearts out to eke out a victory.
For a limited time, those that purchase Duels of the Planeswalkers 2013 can turn in a voucher to their local game store (LGS) and pick up an alternate-art Serra Avatar and a 6-card promotional pack. Make sure to pick up the title today for some incredibly fun singles and multi-player games. For those that can put some serious hours on the title, Wizards has announced that there will be downloadable decks and new challenges that players can purchase for the title in the months to come. This is the perfect way to play Magic: The Gathering online; the only drawback that I can see is a lack of graphical options. Specifically, I would love to remove the card swooping and cut down on the time of a game, but this is the smallest of complaints. If you are a fan of M:TG in the slightest, get onto Steam, the Apple store, or the various other console stores and purchase a copy today.
