Maya Solovey’s new EP, Forte hit stores TODAY and is currently streaming in its entirety at AOL Spinner until Sunday.  Recorded, produced, and mixed by two-time Grammy Award Winner, Bassy Bob Brockman (Notorious BIG, Christina Aguilera, Bob Dylan), Forte brims with an exuberant American sound: colossal drums, cinematic strings, grand percussive pianos, rollicking guitars, tasteful electronics, and most notably Maya’s full-bodied beatific voice, which sounds as if were made from silk and ache.

Besides Brockman, Maya enlisted some of the Brooklyn’s best musicians to round out this fresh towering sound: Kuroma and MGMT’s Hank Sullivant added his psychedelic guitar leanings, renowned classical musician Dave Egger performed on cello, and acclaimed composer Naren Rauch organized all of the arrangements.
In addition to her new EP, Maya is offering several bundles at her web site, including a limited edition lithograph, signed CDs and the Forte eCookbook.

The Forte eCookbook combines two of Maya’s passions: Music and food! It includes six original recipes for breakfast, lunch, dinner, plus a snack and dessert (with a bonus dessert!) that were inspired by songs from the Forte EP. Some of the recipes even inspired the new tracks. As Maya says, “Most of the songs encompass both bitter and sweet,” so she’s concocted delicious dishes that suit every mood. Order the eCookBook (available in PDF and ePub formats), Forte EP and other bundles at Maya’s web site HERE.
Maya will be performing a FREE SHOW at The Living Room in New York City on June 28 to celebrate the new EP.

Here’s a rarity: An original voice who really is original!   Drawing inspiration from all over the map, Maya Solovéy has developed a deep, enchanting sound that’s unlike anything else out there right now.”
Tom Moon, (NPR, Rolling Stone, Spin Magazine)
The beauty of Forte is that although the sound is huge the sentiment remains intimate, as so it chronicles this age-old arc of a couple’s relationship in a very contemporary fashion.  From the naïve and playful optimism in “Ring, Ring, Ring” – which Portable TV calls, “The perfect tune to whisk us away into the summer months” – to the jealousy of “Bigger Man,” infidelity creeping in with “Smile” and finally resolving with an apology on “The Most,” where Solovey closes out the record in a whisper, “I wish I’d learned to be more kind to you, who I loved the most.”
FORTE: (n) a person’s strong suit, or highly developed characteristic, talent, or skill; something that one excels in.
