Today, Kid Static is celebrating the release of his new solo album, It Gleams. The 11-track album, released via Cobra Music, is Static’s first since making his move from Chicago to Los Angeles and is a collection of music that brings together Static’s penchant for quick-witted raps, melody, and genre-bending, electro-inspired production. To celebrate the release, Kid Static is giving fans a brand new non-album track, one that he’s unveiling specially as a thank you to fans for their continued patience and support, “K.I.D.”

“I wrote K.I.D in response to comments by people who had no idea where to put me or how to classify me,” says Static about the quick-witted lyrics (“Rapping about rapping is like bragging about pissing,” he raps) that are laid out on the new track. “The whole song is a description of who I am: a joker, a rapper, and an artist with more to offer than most of the fashion show rappers out here.” Kid Static is also responsible for the beat, with a dark piano sample and up-tempo percussion that completes the yin-yang balance between menacing and lighthearted that’s reflected throughout It Gleams.
