Who are you and how long have you been active?

Nomad Carlos. I’m just an artist from Kingston, JA who does hip hop music. I been doing this since I was in high school. About 10 years now.

What’s your setup? How does a track move from initial thought to finished effort?

I do most recordings at my house. I have a small set up in my room and when I feel the vibe to do my songs I just get busy.  Usually I listen to the beat and just start messing around with flows and then it just comes to me. I recite it till i’m comfortable, record it and then send off to my engineer.

What things (music, art, movies) are important in influencing you creatively?

Well I grew up listening to hip hop, reggae and even r&b. I’d say everything from the 90’s era in those genres have influenced me.

On any Youtube video, there are countless genres thrown around for any song. How does that help or hurt music and musicians, and what genre(s) would your music fall into?

My music definitely falls into hip hop. Sometimes it will have a pinch of reggae. That mixture I like to call “Yard Hip Hop”.

How do you feel things are different between parts of the world?

Cultures. People hold their values based on what their country’s culture or their background has taught them. That’s what makes people around the world different.

Musicians usually talk about a dream concert, or those earlier acts they would like to play with. What would be your dream lineup?

Honestly, my dream line up is really for us local hip hop acts in Jamaica to be on a show together performing for thousands of fans. That’s my dream line up. But other than that I’d love to play with acts such as Nas, Damian Marley, Curren$y, Rick Ross.

We’ve heard and seen some crazy things at concerts; what incredible or crazy times have you had on the road?

I haven’t really toured as yet or performed at any major concerts as yet. I’m sure I’ll have some crazy things to share with you next time haha.

What does the rest of 2012 hold for you, and how can readers connect with you and your music?
