Chicago‘s latest iteration of dark, genre-bending, immersive beat music, Supreme Cuts, have announced two Chicago-centric showcases (one on their home turf and one in Brooklyn) before embarking on a West Coast jaunt with Poliça in support of their debut album Whispers In The Dark, out on Dovecote July 10th. The release shows will also demonstrate the cross-pollinated work of two other young Chicago groups, The-Drum and Sich Mang.

Supreme Cuts’ composers Austin Keultjes and Mike Perry will then export their regional amalgam of Chicago footwork, housetwist rapatmospheric noise, and R&B to the West Coast via their performances with Poliça. Unlike the shows of their contemporaries, Supreme Cuts’ sets are exceptionally energetic and engaging. The duo man a number of sequencers and keyboards while cuing rhythm live with drumsticks, enrobing audiences in a hypnotic wall of sound while they sweat it out on stage. In NYC they’ll be joined by 16 year-old Barbadian rapper Haleek Maul, with whom they collaborated on the recent Oxyconteen EP and the Chrome Lips album due out in August on Mishka.

“… ripe for a much larger, extra-Windy City audience that feels like theirs for the taking” – SPIN

“The Chicago duo’s upcoming debut album is one of the year’s most promising.” – RESIDENT ADVISOR
