Here (DVD) / 2012 Strand Releasing / 126 Minutes / http://www.strandreleasing.com

Here is a film that discusses the human experience. I feel that the framing that is done here showcases the sheer stock of the communal spirit. Ben Foster (3:10 to Yuma) plays Will, an engineer that is attempting to increase the efficacy of the currently existing satellite maps. Will finds Gadarine Nazarian (Lubna Azabal, of Incendies and Paradise Now) along the way; Gadarine’s love of photography matches up perfectly with Will’s occupation. Set in Armenia, Here showcases a beauty that few viewers have had the chance to see. While there are gorgeous shots and similarly enthralling city sets, I feel that the love that is fostered throughout Here will be what brings viewers in for the long haul.

The drama in this film is whether they will share a life together. Should the couple continue to establish their love, or is what they had merely something that is fleeting? Viewers will be surprised at what ultimately does happen; the conclusion to this Braden King film will have all at the edges of their seats.

The transfer of the film is utterly outstanding, ensuring that viewers will have an experience that is extremely close to watching the film at a theatre. Strand has included a number of bonus features with the Here DVD release, meaning that there are a set of photographs ostensibly created by Gadarine along with the trailer that was originally cut for the film.  Check out Strand Releasing’s website for a full listing of the titles that they have slated for 2012 and beyond.
