2012 continues to shape up as a strong year for DubbleOO Space Age, the rapper who splits his time between the Bay Area and his native Portland. He has two albums forthcoming, an official sophmore solo effort as well as a joint album with Bay figurehead The Jacka, but first, DubbleOO continues to build towards the online release of his latest mixtape, Beast Mode, Vol. 2. Today, DubbleOO is excited to release that tape’s latest visual, for the song “Speed Of Sound.”

The track opens with a choppy vocal sample, singing, “Moving at the speed of sound/With my head up in the clouds,” and it’s that initial lyric that drove the song’s direction. “This song is all about a fast-paced lifestyle,” says DubbleOO, recalling experiences over the past few years. “Traveling, staying in hotels, being at exclusive parties – we’re just having fun with the music business.”

For the video, DubbleOO wanted a set of visuals that matched the song’s tone and direction, and, working with director Beejan Iranshad, he was able to do just that. “We’d just flown from Los Angeles to Las Vegas and we were staying at the Wynn Casino in a top floor penthouse,” remembers DubbleOO. “Room service came knocking at 11:45am – we got up and shot the video in 15 minutes, it’s all real life.”
