Brooklyn, NY’s Racing Heart will be touring the West Coast this summer, in support of their debut LP To Walk Beside that Ghost. The band has just released an exceedingly charming video for a duet version of album standout “This Pretty Mistake”, recorded via Skype with experimental lofi California artist MeaningLess Emphasis. You can experience it here:
Written after songwriter Mathias Tjønn relocated to New York from Oslo, Norway, To Walk Beside that Ghost was recorded in Brooklyn with help from members of St. Vincent and Sufjan Stevens’ bands. Mostly using Eddie Van Halen’s old analog 16-track machine, To Walk Beside that Ghost was committed to tape by living, breathing musicians playing as a group in the same room.
Some kind words on the record:
“Closely recalls Grizzly Bear, Local Natives, or even Maps & Atlases.”
– Spin
“A soundtrack to life, a tribute to good vocal harmonies, and a blast from the past.”
– Variance
