Austin, TX metal band EAGLE CLAW will release its sophomore album Timing of the Void on October 30 via ECH Records. The follow up to the group’s 2010 debut Poacher,Timing of the Void was recorded at Folkvang Studios and produced by Bryan Richie of fellow ATX metalheads The Sword. Featuring eight monolithic tracks of the quartet’s fist-raising “InstruMetal“, the record’s title and overarching theme is based on The Book of Five Rings, a text on kenjutsu and the martial arts written by Japanese swordsman Miyamoto Musashi circa 1645. In a recent news item published on EAGLE CLAW, theAustin Chronicle wrote, “Like Musashi, the local quartet’s instrumentals are dually Zen and violent, and their timing and attack is martial. Not just a titular reference, the swordsman’s lessons are the basis for the music on Timing of the Void.”

Immediately following the release of Timing of the VoidEAGLE CLAW will hit the road for a U.S. tour as special guests of The Sword. The tour will launch on October 29 in Corpus Christi, TX and run through November 24 in Baton Rouge, LA. While hoards of hard rock and metal bands dilute their craft with less than stellar vocals, EAGLE CLAWprefers to let its powerful music do the talking. The band’s twin leads call to mind early Metallica and Iron Maiden as its laser-sharp rhythm section cuts through the night sky. Thought by many to be one of the best metal bands to rise from Austin’s stellar music scene in quite some time, EAGLE CLAW now prepares to unleash its compelling song craft and electric live show on music fans nationwide.

“We are so proud of this album!” said EAGLE CLAW guitarist Matt Rade. “Everything about it turned out better than we expected (and we already knew it was gonna kick ass). Bryan Richie really helped bring this album together and captured our live spontaneity in the studio.  We put the focus on getting to the point quicker, which has given us and the songs more energy than ever before.”

“Austin’s Eagle Claw may only have been around for five years but its bludgeoning instru-metal is sure to stand the test of time. Passages of slow burning stoner-rock and moments of old school thrash-metal are all part and parcel of this pulverizing package. All in all, it’s an aural onslaught that could fly the flag for the metal genre in any decade.” – TRIBEZA

“Watching EAGLE CLAW is only half the experience. The other half is a physical experience. You get to feel it. Or maybe “survive” is a better word. It’s just relentless, minor key riffage.” – AUSTIN CHRONICLE

“Timing of the Void folds beauty, structure and form together with tone, aggressiveness and inspiration into the defining album for Eagle Claw.  From the first note to the last, one of my favorite albums of the year” – Chuck Loesch, 101X No Control Radio

“Austin’s Most Dangerous Band” – BUZZBIN
