The reason Bill O’Reilly is so annoyed by comic actor Stephen Colbert is because he has managed to not only pull-off a perfect homage to the conservative blowhard, but found a way to be incredibly successful at it, with a popular talk show on Comedy Central, a DVD and a series of books. This summer Colbert and his crew even managed to make a poke fun at the absurdity of Super PACs and the Citizen’s United Supreme Court verdict by launching the surprisingly powerful Making a Better Tomorrow, Tomorrow political action committee.
America Again, his third book, is exactly what you’ve come to expect from Colbert: biting political satire, this time arriving just in time for the presidential elections. Complete with 3D glasses (because everything’s better in 3D!) the book covers everything from history through a conservative’s perspective, healthcare (“America spends twice as much on healthcare per capita than any other country. Whatever is most expensive is always best.”) and how to weather employment with helpful sample resumes that cut through the clutter. (“Let’s cut the crap. Put the resume down. Stop playing grab-ass and just call me for an interview”.)
If you’re not satisfyingly entertained by the end of the book you’re either humor-impaired or Bill O’Reilly. Either way, there’s clearly no help for you.
