Los Angeles (October 22, 2012) – Gerardo Ortiz, The King of the Corrido, is racking up honors and triumphs faster than we can announce them…

Once again he leaves us breathless with his extraordinary accomplishments. First, on October 18, he dominated the Billboard Mexican Music Awards, winning in no fewer than 7 of the 11 categories in which he was nominated.

This young singer-songwriter won in the following categories: Artist of the Year; Artist of the Year, Male; Album of the Year (Entre Dios y el Diablo); Albums Artist of the Year; Norteño Song of the Year (“Amor Confuso”); Norteño Album of the Year (Entre Dios y el Diablo) and Norteño Artist of the Year.

The other big news from Gerardo Ortiz is that El Primer Ministro (The Prime Minister) – his latest album, released September 25 – is the #1-selling Latin album in the United States.

A superlative achievement, and one that was tipped from the start when it debuted at #1 in sales on iTunes, and almost immediately earned a Gold certification.

El Primer Ministro is an explosive album, featuring all of the musical quality and passion that Gerardo Ortiz is known for. The album is available in standard and deluxe editions.

GERARDO ORTIZ IS AT THE TOP OF HIS GAME

There’s no doubt that Gerardo Ortiz is reigning over the music scene. He’s #1 on Billboard’s Regional Mexican chart, meaning that he tops the rankings in both sales and airplay in the United States. On the Regional Mexican airplay chart, his #1 song is “Solo Vine a Despedirme” (I Just Came to Say Goodbye).

What’s more, he recently received a nomination for the Latin Grammy in the category of “Best Norteño Album”,  and five nominations in the Premios de la Radio awards in the categories of: Artist of the Year, Corrido of the Year, Best Song with Banda, Male Artist of the Year and Corrido Album of the Year.

In addition, on September 13, he was inducted into Las Vegas’ iconic Walk of Stars at a gala ceremony.

And it all that wasn’t enough, on Friday October 5, Gerardo Ortiz returned to the scene of one of his most historic concerts, Los Angeles’ Nokia Theater L.A. Live, to perform yet another sold-out show that was also a celebration of his 23rd birthday.

Gerardo Ortiz once again shows the world who is today’s #1 Regional Mexican artist!!!
