Soulful R&B singer-songwriter Mateo marks his major label debut with the release of his EP, Suite 823, which will be available digitally on October 9th. Grammy Award winner Kerry “Krucial” Brothers (Alicia Keys, Nas, Drake) produced the nine track EP, which includes “Carry On,” “Looking You Up” (a duet with Stacy Barthe), and a stripped-down cover of Lana Del Rey’s “Blue Jeans.”

Celebrating the release of Suite 823, Mateo will perform a trio of concerts during the week:

Wednesday, October 10 – Philadelphia, PA – Milkboy at 10PM

Thursday, October 11 – Washington, DC – DC9 at 10PM

Saturday, October 13 – New York, NY – Apollo Music Café at 10PM

Born in Cincinnati to a musical family (grandfather was a guitarist at King Records playing for James Brown and Freddie King, grandmother was a touring singer), Mateo attended Atlanta’s Morehouse College, majoring in music and business. After graduation, he moved to New York before deciding to follow his musical dreams to Los Angeles. In 2009 he gained notoriety with the three-installment Underneath The Sky (MySpace Records) mixtape series and EP Get To Know Me: Live At Swing House. His first Krucial mixtape was 2011’s Love & Stadiums, which featured Goapele and Pusha T. The sequel, Love & Stadiums II, was highlighted by the single “Say Its So” featuring Alicia Keys and Swizz Beatz. Mateo has racked up more than a million views with his various mixtape videos on YouTube.

He is currently working on his debut studio album which will be released on Interscope Records in 2013.
