The My Big Fat Greek Wedding: 10th Anniversary Special Edition provides viewers with three ways to watch this modern classic – through Blu-Ray, DVD, and digital editions. Viewers may have watched the latter two editions of the film, but the Blu-Ray is incredibly clear and will be a decidedly different experience from any previous viewing.  My Big Fat Greek Wedding succeeded in its original home entertainment and theatrical runs because it meshed so well with the craziness inherent in viewers’ families. While 10 years have passed since this film was first released, I believe that the pathos and raw storytelling ability of the title are just as strong as ever. This film still straddles the line between family reunion and romantic comedy nicely, all while the overall picture has been tightened up and had its face lifted. Viewers of the DVD version will simply be amazed at the clarity present in the video and audio tracks; the expansiveness of some of the shoots recall comes into view on the Blu-Ray edition.

HBO has included a number of featurettes here. The half-hour retrospective look back into the film’s creation and expansion into a behemoth is helmed by John Corbett and Nia Vardalos, while the original audio commentary has been brought back. The set of deleted scenes present here allow viewers to see the actors break the fourth wall, all while injecting additional comedy to what is already hilarious.

My Big Fat Greek Wedding: 10th Anniversary Special Edition is the definitive version of the film, while the different addictions to the Big Fat Greek mythos provide viewers with more than enough extra value. I would strongly recommending purchasing this Blu-Ray set if you are a fan of the movie or really needs to purchase a stellar gift for friends or for family.
