Southern California’s radiant pop singer-songwriter, April Kae, has unveiled the sassy music video for her latest single, “The Writing’s On the Wall,” available on iTunes. Directed by Polarity Productions, the music video compliments the oh-so-relatable theme of being freed from the shackles of a rotten relationship. Coated in rock glam, the song hits hard with its infectious chorus and sweet melodic swings. With the single gaining momentum, April is creating a buzz of excitement on the local music scene and is determined to take her talents beyond state lines.

Raised in sunny San Diego, April studied classical piano as a child and was infatuated with singing. With no intent to pursue a music career, it was a 1st place win in a county-wide singing competition that made the 21-year old realize her potential as a pop powerhouse. Drawn to the soulful sounds of R&B/soul singers Aretha Franklin, Alicia Keys, Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey, the singer learned to develop a vocal talent far beyond her years. She also credits Mick Jagger, Stevie Wonder and Dolly Parton for her versatility and singing style. However, this budding star is more than just a performer. The young equestrian has a soft spot for horses and animal rights and has been professionally showing American Saddlebred horses for 13 years.

Shot in her hometown and Las Vegas, the video takes on the independent woman persona in the vein of many Destiny’s Child hits. April opens the first scene at a scenic beach, waiting for her love interest to meet her, but soon leaves when she realizes that she has been stood up. As words such as “LIAR” and “set me free” appear next to her, she belts out the song with a slight quirkiness, showing that she is not afraid to live the single life. In fact, later in the video April is seen letting off some steam at the famed Belly Up Tavern in San Diego. April shows off her fabulous style in the video in a Miranda Lambert meets Jessica Simpson look that sets off her charming smile and blonde beachy tresses.

Knocking down the competition, April’s sultry vocals take command of the song with such strength and conviction as she vamps up her lines with soaring ad libs. Vocal production was the work of the legendary Paulette McWilliams (Michael Jackson, Quincy Jones, Mary J. Blige) and the song was tracked at the famed Capitol Studios in Hollywood. Catchy and radio-ready, the chorus comes in soaring, driven by propulsive drum kicks and electrifying pop-style guitars. With stellar production from two-time Grammy award-winning producer Bob “Bassy” Brockman (Christina Aguilera, Babyface, Santana, Sting), and guitar features by James Richardson of MGMT, “The Writing’s On the Wall” is a surefire hit.

To honor her loyal fans and the arrival of the new video, April is giving away a free download of the song on Tunecore.com. To download the single, all fans have to do is enter their email address. Fans can also watch the video for, “The Writing’s On the Wall” on April’s YouTube.
