Foyle’s War is a mystery, set during the second World War, that focuses on creating an authentic experience for viewers while keeping them firmly riveted to their seats. Foyle’s War: The Home Front Files provides viewers with a few extra features; the making-of features provide additional context to the filming process while proving viewers with quick views into the camaraderie that was enjoyed on the set. The interviews conducted with show creator Anthony Horowitz (who has also put in work on Midsomer Murders) are perhaps the best of these, as they provide viewers with a way to enjoy the film straight from the creator. The video quality of this boxed set is stellar, and does not contain the promotional material that would normally be present in a PBS airing.

Viewers are treated to each mystery attempted during the run of Foyle’s War; this DVD set will get viewers up to date before the show begins to air new episodes in September of this year. If viewers begin now, chances are good that they will be caught up shortly before these episodes premiere.

Search around for the best price for Foyle’s War: The Home Front Files; certain online retailers have the set available for under $100. This DVD set would be the perfect holiday or birthday gift for those that are in to British mysteries or of English drama generally; for those with tighter budgets, Acorn has split this set up into two. Make sure to check the Acorn website for more information about the products that they will be issuing through the rest of 2013.
