Domestic Genocide Records are pleased to welcome progressive post black metal project DESIDERIUM to their eclectic roster of sonic devastation.

Defined as an ardent longing, as for something lost, DESIDERIUM paints beautifully ugly portraits of sound. Founded in late 2010 in Cary, North Carolina by Michael Rumple (Súl ad Astra, ex-Acrasia), DESIDERIUM was initially forged as a solo project but later morphed into a small revolving collective of sound revolutionists. Though rooted in black metal, the band incorporates a host of genres from black metal and progressive rock to death metal and dream pop into meticulously crafted cathartic hymnals that are at once scathing yet serene. “Take two of the most successful names in atmospheric black metal (Agalloch and Borknagar),” opined Blackwindmetal, “and meld them together in a unique fusion. That’s an introduction to DESIDERIUM….”

DESIDERIUM will release their debut LP, a concept album entitled Sunless Meridian, through Domestic Genocide later this year. Produced by Chris Kelhey at Rivalry Sound, Sunless Meridian features Rumple alongside guitarist Zach Dresher, bassist Blake Privette and drummer Dylan Donegan (drums). Further details – including release date and cover art – to be divulged in the coming weeks. In the meantime check out teaser track – the mammoth sounding “Aerial Sea” – at THIS LOCATION.
