Just six months after Levon Helms, the legendary drummer for The Band, died from cancer, a slew of musicians, from My Morning Jacket to Gregg Allman, took the stage at the Izod Center in New Jersey to raise money for a pet cause of his, but more importantly praise and celebrate the life of one of the most adored drummers in rock music. This 2 DVD set does a brilliant job of honoring Helms. While it’s hard to pull out the best moments in a show crammed with “best moments”, Roger Waters and My Morning Jacket taking on “The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down” and an emotional “Wide River to Cross” is right up there. Performers include John Mayer, Joe Walsh, Mavis Staples, John Prine, and Jakob Dylan, among many others. The collection is also available on CD.
