While the bones of the release date back to sessions for Rhythm and Repose, the recording of “Drive All Night” was largely inspired by Hansard’s relationship with Jake Clemons, nephew of Clarence Clemons aka “The Big Man,” who was a prominent member of Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band playing the tenor saxophone.
All profits from the digital single sales of “Drive All Night” will be donated to Little Kids Rock, the non-profit charity Clarence Clemons donated his energy towards. Little Kids Rock provides music education classes to K-12 students in public schools that have been stripped of their music programs. Learn more at www.littlekidsrock.org

In 2007, he and Czech songstress Markéta Irglová took home the Academy Award for Best Original Song for “Falling Slowly” from the Once soundtrack. Hansard and Irglová continued the success of Once with the 2009 release Strict Joy under the namesake of The Swell Season.
