Jupiter in Velvet is able to cultivate and provide listeners with an inimitable style on his latest effort, Screaming The Love Behind The Scars. So How Could They Know? Is a track that looks back into the halcyon days of late eighties rock, all while the act impresses through stellar arrangements and a production that allows each constituent element to shine.
Monkey See Monkey Do is a high-energy track that links together a disparate array of styles, creating something that is inherently catchy while still having the certain indefinable quality that will ensure that listeners will continue to play the cut. Hints of psychedelic and 60s pop are tied to an electronic fuzz that is reminiscent of Elastica and Placebo. Stand On Your Own is the final track on Screaming The Love Behind The Scars, and represents an emphatic ending to an eclectic album. The overall tempo of the song is slower, a deliberate step taken to put an exclamation point on the album. Of particular note during this song has to be the emotive narration of the vocals, which are further bolstered through a cozy instrumentation. There is nary a weak track on the 10-song Screaming The Love Behind The Scars, ensuring that it has greater legs than many albums released this year. I feel that Jupiter in Velvet could continue expanding upon the styles and approaches that were presented here to great effect.
