24-year-old Londoner Sampha is set to release his new AA-sided single Too Much / Happens on November 12th via Young Turks. Recorded with Emile Haynie in September 2013, both are beautifully honest piano and vocal tracks, demonstrating a particular side of Sampha’s diverse musical personality – his talent for creating both immediate and intimate melodies.

“Too Much” will already be familiar to many, a demo version having been sampled by Canadian rapper Drake on a track of the same name from his recent Billboard 100 topping album Nothing Was The Same. As well as providing vocals and keys on the track, Sampha performed Too Much” live alongside Drake on the US TV show ‘Late Night With Jimmy Fallon’. It’s backed by brand new track ‘Happens’, an equally beautiful song that also features nothing but piano and Sampha’s voice: warm and sincere.

The single follows collaborations with the likes of Koreless (as Short Stories), SBTRKT, Jessie Ware and Lil Silva, showcasing Sampha’s considerable skills as producer, songwriter and singer. These collaborations, along with this year’s solo Dual EP, which provided an intimate and idiosyncratic glimpse of Sampha’s artistic intent, have established Sampha as one of the most exciting, fascinating artists to follow into 2014.
