Brooklyn band CHAPPO has announced their sophomore LP, Future Former Self, to be released March 4th via their own Rouse Records. The album comes as a follow-up to 2012’s Moonwater, which included the iPod commercial-featured single “Come Home” and earned praise from fans and critics alike. A departure from CHAPPO’s previous releases yet as catchy as ever, you can get an early taste of Future Former Self  with single “I Don’t Need The Sun,” which premiered w/ NYLON Guys. The track is available to post & share via Soundcloud and will be available for purchase via iTunes and all other digital retailers on December 10th.

Future Former Self is a concept album that follows one man, Rene Cogito, on his journey to a black hole. The album tackles the abstract concept of time and its infinite & fleeting nature. CHAPPO explores the idea that at any given moment, the future and the past can cave in on themselves, leaving us with an inexplicable reality where one is confronted with his “future former self.” A kaleidoscope of unique and otherworldly sounds compliment the narrative lyrics, allowing you to peer into the heart and mind of main character Rene.

Splitting the difference between the guitar-driven psychedelia of 60’s west coast rock and the spiritual witch doctor moonshine of Dr. John, CHAPPO regularly turns their live show into nothing short of a full-blown spectacle– incorporating costumes, props, and plenty of confetti. The band has previously toured with the likes of Of Montreal & Imagine Dragons and graced the stages of Bonnaroo & Osheaga. Stay tuned for more new music and 2014 tour dates, coming soon!
