Allagash has created a Saison that expands the contours of the farmhouse style while imbuing it with just enough alcohol presence to make this into an endearing effort. The beer pours with considerable haze and virtually no head. The head that does collect is off-white and dissipates quickly, owing to the effervescence of the Saison style. The beer blends equal parts malt, hop, and links these sides together with hints of bananas, citrus, and apricots. The beer ends with a bit of hop bitterness, which ensures that imbibers will be able to have a clean palette for their next sip. Well-rounded in terms of sweet and bitter, fruity and malty, the Allagash Saison is a great beer for those looking to familiarize themselves with the Saison style or want something more heady and complex than other macro-brew takes on the style.

Visit the Allagash website for more information about their bottled and draft efforts, news about the brewery, and additional pairings of their beers with foods (coupled with recipes when possible). Purchase the  beer in four-packs from well-stocked local beer stores and experience the first hints of the upcoming spring season.
