GODSMACK are revving up their highly anticipated sixth full-length album, 1000hp [Republic Records], for release on August 5. It’s the follow-up to 2010’s The Oracle, which debuted at #1 on the Billboard Top 200. The title track and first single is available on iTunes (purchase here) and other digital retailers today after its worldwide debut at radio yesterday.

“1000hp” bursts out of the gate with the Boston group’s signature stomp and a newfound thrashed-up “punk” energy. It’s a rowdy, rousing, and rough anthem that tells the story of the band’s journey from playing tiny clubs to packed arenas worldwide.

Once again GODSMACK teamed up with producer Dave Fortman [Slipknot, Evanescence] for the album, recording it back home in their new HQ just 30 minutes from the heart of the city. Take a listen to “1000hp” here and turn that sh*t up louder!

About the album, singer Sully Erna comments, “We made a conscious decision to go back to the streets of Boston for this album. The single actually recounts our days in the empty bars working our way up to those big stages we’re so blessed to be on. It doesn’t just capture the spirit of the city. It’s GODSMACK.”

Drummer Shannon Larkin adds, “It’s a kickass rock tune from, what I feel, is our most kickass record! There’s a punk edge and a different energy. I can’t wait for everybody to hear it.”

Get ready for another epic from the iconic Boston titans.

To date, GODSMACK have notched a staggering six number one singles at mainstream rock radio, including “Awake”, “Straight Out of Line”, “Cryin’ Like A Bitch”, and “I Stand Alone”. Moreover, they’ve enjoyed 20 Top 10 hits at the format—the most of any act since February 1999 as well as four Grammy nominations, and winner of Billboard Music Awards Rock Artist of the Year in 2001.  Selling over 20 million records worldwide, the band has also unleashed three consecutive albums at #1 on the Billboard Top 200—namely Faceless [2003], IV [2006], and The Oracle[2010]. This places them in league with Van Halen, U2, Metallica, Dave Matthews Band, and Linkin Park who have also enjoyed the same streak. Moreover, the accomplishment on the road remains staggering with headlining sets everywhere from Mayhem and UPROAR to Rock on the Range.
