Guitarist Christian Bland invites listeners to accompany him on a sonic journey: “After roaming through the Indigo Meadow, the time has come to journey to the Clear Lake Forest, where 7 tales of diamonds, executioners, and other strange occurrences await underneath the crystal waves lapping in the lake.”

The Black Angels are excited to announce the official release of their new offering Clear Lake Forestdue July 22, 2014 via Blue Horizon. Clear Lake Forest cut “Diamond Eyes” premiered via Consequence of Sound, who called it a “highly refined slice of blues-meets-psych-rock, with singer Alex Maas delivering his sun-baked croon over swirls of hazy feedback and guitars that zig-zag like rainbow-colored basilisks.” Clear Lake Forest saw a limited 10″ vinyl release on Record Store Day, but on July 22 the 7-track set will have a much wider release in a variety of formats. It is now available for pre-order both digitally and on CD or vinyl.

Once again, The Black Angels (Christian Bland – guitar, drone machine/organ; Alex Maas – vocals, bass, organ, drone machine; Stephanie Bailey – drums, percussion; Kyle Hunt – keyboards, percussion, bass, guitar; Jake Garcia – guitar, bass) prove themselves the undisputed avatars of contemporary psychedelic rock, simultaneously exalting the genre’s kaleidoscopic past as they thrust it ever further into the future.
