Four of Hearts is an Eric Haywood (Nick of Time) title that stars Darrin Henson (Soul Food, Tekken, Stomp the Yard) and Nadine Ellis (Tropic Thunder, Reno 911!) as a couple that are currently weathering issues after being married for a year. Due to their busy lives, the romance that was present in the initial part of their relationship has disappeared for six months. After discussing these issues with friends Matt and Christy, they feel as if the next reasonable step to bolster their marriage has to be a foursome. This has considerable ramifications for the couple’s relationship, which is captured through equal injectious of drama and humor.
The movie succeeds because it frankly discusses the sexual reality that a great many individuals and couples have to deal with. The mature and contemporary attitudes that are taken by this film towards sex make Four of Hearts’ contribution to cinema that much greater. The dialogue feels as if one’s friends or family could honestly say it, while the costuming and set design make this into something could be seen on the streets rather than a Hollywood sort of production. The video quality of the film is stellar, with realistic skin tones and palettes. The immersion provided by Four of Hearts ensures that viewers will be on the edges of their seats from the beginning to the end of the movie.
