There is a powerful singer-songwriter tradition that is presented during the initial track on the Perfect EP, Cry. The track benefits from a smart production hast could easily have it present on pop or adult contemporary radio play. The intelligent arrangements that back up these vocals make for a compelling and alluring style that will resound loudly in listener’s ears long after the album has ceased spinning. Perfect is a track that builds off of the work of The Pistol Annies with The Runaways; there is a harder edge present here that showcases each of the constituent band members’ unparalleled abilities.

Nothing Else Matters is a cover of the Metallica classic and it toes the original while spinning the effort into a bold new direction. There is still the brooding heaviness of the track, but there is a more timeless sound presented the effort by Gulzhan. Babe I’m Gonna Leave You is the final track on this EP and it showcases a decidedly different side to Universal You. There is an EDM / industrial sound that is meshed together with a hard rock approach, creating something that is absolutely special and represents a whole realm of possibility for subsequent Universal You albums. The guitar solo that is present here is absolutely sizzling, allowing listeners to ride the disc until the wheels fall off.
