All That You’ve Got is a track on Allyson Murrell’s Inspiration that could work equally well in pop and dance stations; there is a crispness to the track’s arrangements that would make it an easy sell for radio rotation. The unity of the electronic instrumentation and the organic, vibrant vocals make for a track that will resound loudly in listeners’ ears long after the track has ceased.400x400x1f0ceffc37e8a1535858c4bd5c1cf878.png.pagespeed.ic.1430875935

In The End is a much more emotive effort and shines on the dynamic crafted between the more traditional piano arrangements and inimitable vocals laid down by Murrell. The twinkling arrangements that are interspersed through the track unite these two disparate elements and establish Murrell as someone that can turn on a dime and create something absolutely unheard.

The City Has Eyes is a mid-tempo track that feels hopeful and has Allyson’s vocals pulling double duty – there is a narrative aspect that is present in each line of the lyrics, but Murrell is able to further bolster the instrumentation through harmonies that create considerable depth to an already heady album.

More Than My Skin (Take It All) is the high-water mark on Inspiration as it takes the different elements that have been showcased during the earlier measures of the title and combine them into a fulfilling track that has something for everyone. The different facets that Murrell showcases during Inspiration provide a solid introduction to this fascinating performer. Here’s to hoping that the follow-up recordings to Inspiration are able to provide other chapters into this alluring new addition to music.
