Vlesg’s Solid State Hi Fi begins with Enigma, a track that links together organic and electronic elements into a track that touches upon a wide variety of composers and genres. This means that there are hints of trip-hop, ethereal, and world music genres. The track is linked delicately to the classical music tradition, a move that ensures that the widest possible swath of listeners will find something that they can appreciate from this introductory track. Syncmatic contains the same strong strings as Enigma and allows Vlesg to take the track into a much more dark techno / industrial / EDM feeling that feels just as much at home in the eighties, nineties, or later decades – there are simply enough twists and turns presented in this compositions to have listeners on the edges of their seats.

Destiny features Kid Lyrical is a bold step forward for Vlesg, as there are hints of early-nineties dance, Massive Attack, Plastikman, and even Enigma that can be picked out during the composition. The different movements that are present here provide fans with the energy that they need to finish Solid State Hi Fi; Don’t Lift Your Eyes To The Sun (featuring Susie Goritchan) represents a further kick in the ass that will have them hurtling towards the end of the album at breakneck speed.

Don’t Life Your Eyes To The Sun (featuring Susie Goritchan) is a track that could easily make it onto dance radio rotation; the inclusion of Goritchan to this track make for a high-energy track that will tattoo its melodies deep into the heart and psyche of all listeners. The track is similarly timeless as the other efforts on Solid State Hi Fi, and allow Vlesg to ride out nicely into the sunset.
