The To Keep From Losing Our Minds EP is the latest release from New York City’s Eric and Aaron, and represents a brief introduction into a fascinating act. The EP begins with On the Road, a track that runs the gamut from intense indie rock to emotive soul at the drop of a dime. The duo is able to use louder and quieter elements to provide additional shading to this introductory track, which touches upon Death Cab for Cutie and 30 Seconds to Mars. While the song is something that could easily make it onto radio stations, the instrumental side of things is so deep and fulfilling that fans will have to spin On the Road a number of times before understanding every note and interaction present.

Long Time is an echoing composition that utilizes vocal and instrumental-heavy sides, combining the two for something that resounds loudly in the minds of listeners. Particular attention should be taken to the lyrics here, as the positive message here shows that Eric and Aaron understand the plight of alienation. Lola concludes the EP in as punchy of a fashion as it starts; the guitars and drums immediately sizzle as the band creates a varied soundscape full of wonderment for those completing the release.
