Blown Away is the latest track from New York’s Dave Goddess Group, showcasing a wide array of influences. The band is immediately able to make a complex and deep track through the presence of inimitable vocals, splashy drums, a chunky bass and an overall sound that is timeless. Hints of INXS, U2, and even Genesis can be picked open during this introductory effort. DAVE GODDESS GROUP PhotoOne Man’s Passion succeeds with an immediate call and response approach. The track crackles with an energy, as Dave Goddess is able to build off of the work of Tom Petty, Soul Asylum, and Warren Zevon. The vocals stand on during this cut, but an extended instrumental section showcases that the rest of the band can hang.

Fall from Grace slows things down to allow listeners the opportunity to see another side to the Dave Goddess Group. The track has the sizzling guitar work of Lynyrd Skynyrd with a track that is as much “Permanent Vacation”-era Aerosmith as it is Pink Floyd. The track is a high-water mark on a release full of hits, a perfect boost to the momentum as listeners find their way into the release’s final track, Common Ground. Common Ground has the grittiness and chugging style of Dire Straits and INXS’ Mediate. While there are four tracks on this EP, the Dave Goddess Group are able to provide fans with a good sense of what drives the band and where the act may go on albums to come.
