Avery’s Old Jubilation Ale pours with a dark brown and a very small amount of tannish, off-white head. There is a good amount of effervescence to this effort, which immediately invites with a nose that links together dark fruit with just a hint of alcohol. When one begins to sip the beer, they will be greeted with a good amount of toasted malt, nuttiness, and a bit of coffee. The astringency that comes forth at the ending of an Old Jubilation sip is a solid refresher, ensuring that one will have a new take on the beer.Old Jubilation Ale The backbone of the beer is such is such that one will have as much fun completing the beer as they did opening it. The spicy zest that permeates later sips does much to keep this interesting and invigorating, with nits of cinnamon, cayenne, and nutmeg all discernible at points. This well-balanced beer is the perfect way to set off a night, and no more than two or three would be needed over the course of a session; this is a big, bold, and always fun effort.

Old Jubilation Ale is great for warming one up during the beginning of the winter months, and will pair nicely with cuisine that has a strong flavor profile (roasts, Indian or Thai cuisine). Old Jubilation Ale is Avery’s winter seasonal and cannot be recommended more highly for anyone that is a fan of winter warmers or Belgian dark strong ales.
