Love Won’t Make You Cry is bitter’s Kiss’ latest single off of their self-titled full length from earlier this year, a tremendously impactful track that will stick with fans long after it has ceased to play. The track is tender and shows tremendous vocal ability by Chloe. The instrumentation that plays at the background of the single establishes a solid backdrop for this emotionally-charged delivery. Chloe’s vocals do double duty here, both providing listener with a narrative as well as making the overall harmonies that much deeper. Love Won’t Make You Cry takes a bold new tack with an extended instrumental interlude; fans are provided insight into the depth of the instrumentation here.

The production allows each side of Love Won’t Make You Cry to shine without making the overall experience a sterile one. This means that fans can imagine themselves sitting in front of Chloe and Michael as they craft their inimitable sound. The thing that is the most interesting about Love Won’t Make You Cry has to be its unique flair; while there are nuances here that will have the single succeed on pop and alternative radio, it is extremely difficult to place bitter’s Kiss into a neat pigeonhole. Rather, listeners will hear hints of the Dresden Dolls at point, Liz Phair at others, and Lifted-eras Bright Eyes all before the song ends. It is the rich set of influences here that drastically increase the replay value of Love Won’t Make You Cry; the effort will be able to stand up to repeat listens long after 2015 ends and 2016 begins.
