As a magazine from the Akron area, it’s always invigorating to find a talented band from our neck of the woods. The L.A. Knights create a track in Devil On My Heels that links together the work of metal acts like Motley Crue and Malice, tying together intense guitar works, a vocal braggadocio that has the chops to back it up, and on-point drums that fit perfectly while amazing with the raw level of talent that they bring to the table. Devil On My Heels has a chorus that will have listeners singing along after their first listen, with a sizzling guitar solo that will have listeners on the edges of their seats. The band is able to create a fulfilling track that looks back to the metal of the eighties while working perfectly alongside other contemporary metal acts.
Dance is a stripped-down and raw rock track that needs nothing more than an insistent set of vocals, chugging guitars, and breakneck drums to build something that will smack listeners alongside their head. The drum/bass/guitar triad during the middle of Dance provides further evidence that the band has some talented dudes.
Psychoanalyze is another of our favorites, collecting a lyric heaviness that is reminiscent of Queensryche and Twisted Sister with furious guitars and impeccable drums. The effort seems destined for radio rotation even as there are some seriously heavy and deep compositions bubbling just under the surface.
