Deadlines and Zombie Nights is a full-length release from Waterloo, Iowa’s One of Us. The album begins with I Need a Pen Name, a track that ultimately sets the stage for what will follow on the disc. One of Us kick things into a high gear with Deadlines and Zombie Nights, a track that takes up the standards of acts like Monster Magnet and Deliverance-era Corrosion of Conformity. Virtuosic guitars and stoner vocals unite to create something that is complex, intense, and will ensure that listeners are on the edges of their seats.  See You In Here has One of Us change their overall approach to something that feels more at home in the post-grunge alternative rock of the mid-1990s. Fuzzy, chunky guitars are reminiscent of Pinkerton-era Weezer and Modest Mouse. A fuzzy production for this track unites these elements together into a refreshing bit of retro-esque rock. Deadlines and Zombie Nights

Honey Whiskey Blues is another sea change for One of Us. While there are hints of the alt-rock that the band had been cultivating up to this point, there is a more emotionally intense approach that is taken here. With the guitar/drum dynamic building off of the southern rock and hair metal paradigms, listeners will be given something wholly new at a late part of an album. This is one of the biggest selling points for One of Us; fans will simply not have any idea what the band will bring to the table. The one constant is that the song that will issue forth from one’s speakers – whether Cameltoe or The Capture – will be infectious and catchy as all get out. While at 5-plus minutes, the same immediacy present on the first few tracks is present in droves on the concluding strains of  Deadlines and Zombie Nights.
