A few moments with Dru Paris

Q: What’s your story? How’d you fall into rap?

A: I’ve always been making some form of music. I used to be in a rock band called Phoenix when I was younger. I played the guitar. From there it turned into making EDM styled beats. I started rapping when my brother passed away. He used to rap too, so I guess you can say when he passed I sort of picked up where he left off.

Q: Who are you listening to right now?

A: I’m listening to a lot of different genres at the time. But I’ve been jamming to Bon Iver’s 22, a million album.

Q: How has your style evolved and changed over the time since you first started? Where do you think that your flow will go to in the months and years in the future?

A: I listen to my old songs a lot, & it’s amazing to see the growth, especially after a 1 yr hiatus. Simply put my flow will be f**cking bananas. I don’t know what else to say.

Q: You are pretty busy in terms of the music you create. Can you give a brief description of some of your newest tracks?

A: Like Me: Tales of a promiscuous lover and a loner caught up in the mix of it all

With You: Dedicated to my grandmother (R.I.P.) it’s a feel good song with EDM trap vibes.

Do What You Do: A song mostly for the women. The message in hindsight is “ be comfortable, & do you.”

Q: Do What You Do is the first track on the Prolific EP. What have people had to say about the release?

A: The response to the EP so far have been good as a starting point, also as introducing myself to a brand new, organic market. I’ve been told I have a Cudi vibe to my music. I think as more of my music comes out, my own style will be more pronounced, if not already. The next step is to get more coverage for my future releases.

Q: What differences in terms of lifestyle, music, or anything have you seen between the New York and the other areas that you have visited?

A: I haven’t traveled many places besides to where I’ve done shows. I was in Boston for the first time to do a show but unfortunately, I didn’t get a chance to venture. Hard Cafe was dope af though.

Q: How have you gotten more of your fans – social media (e.g. Snapchat, IG, Facebook, Twitter) or traditional word of mouth? Have you noticed anything different between these types of fans?

A: My fan base is mainly on the internet. I interact with them mainly through Instagram.

Q: How should people find your music? Are there any singles or mixtapes coming out that they should look into buying?

A: Yes! I got some new releases coming out very soon! Check out my music at www.druparisofficial.com and follow me on instagram @ dru.paris

Q: Do you have any final thoughts for NeuFutur readers?

A: Thank you so much for taking the time to check out this interview. Much appreciated! Live your dreams, love your life. One love.
