Michael Van and The Movers - A Little More Country

A Little More Country is the latest album from Michael Van and The Movers. Little More Country’s titular effort seamlessly blends together the easy-going rock of the seventies with a current and contemporary country style (exemplified by Florida-Georgia Line and Brad Paisley. The bubbling opening shifts into something pulling from the country and western tradition of the 1960s and 1970s, Gettin Drunk On A Monday. Coming forth with each effort built off of a variety of styles and genres, Michael Van and The Movers are able to keep A Little More Country fresh from the beginning to the album’s final notes.

Love Me Till Thursday slows things down to showcase tremendous emotional depth. With vocals adopting hints of Jon Bon Jovi and Rod Stewart, the track provides a look into a different facet of the band. Gimme Back My Guitar will take fans back to early Willie Nelson and Garth Brooks; the back and forth with the strings gives the effort a secondary narrative that is as rich as anything else on A Little More Country.

Don’t Mind It If I Do shatters the conception that late-album tracks are placed there for a reason. The track unites vocals and instrumentation for a cohesive sound that effortlessly glides through alt-country and mid-nineties alternative rock.

Look At Miss Ohio is the final track on A Little More Country; the folksy sound of this track will have listeners singing along after a precious few listens. The band is able to remain on point, adding perfect percussion and master-level picking to the concluding strains of A Little More Country. This is music that listeners of a wide swath will be able to find something to appreciate. Check samples of their music at their Bandcamp (linked below).
