Brunettes Shoot Blondes Release "Every Monday" Lyric Video

Brunettes Shoot Blondes releases the lyric video to their new song “Every Monday”, the song that made it to the finals in the Eurovision 2016 national selection. Filipino phenom Gian Solamo provided the calligraphy that brought the song to life, set on a backdrop of real-time drum play.

“We were not excited about the usual slide change used in lyric videos. We thought about doing something a bit more interesting than just that. However, we didn’t want it to become as complicated as our official videos. We spent a lot of time thinking on how to shoot our “Bittersweet” clip, which we made for Opel, and likewise the “Knock Knock” video. This time, it’s just an aesthetically beautiful picture with hand-designed fonts. So we found Gian, who coped with this task perfectly. The girl in the video is a professional drummer who is a friend of ours”, says Andrew Kovaliov, the front man of the band.

For this venture, Brunettes Shoot Blondes made an effort to create a video without excess post-production. The text of the song was printed and glued directly to the bass drum for every single line change in the song. Roma Sobol, BSB’s drummer, adds: ”To be precise, we changed the text decals 32 times. I know it could be easier to write the lyrics in any post-production program, but we like when our videos are true and authentic”.

Brunettes Shoot Blondes became internationally recognizable after having released a self-directed music video for the song Knock Knock, which became viral and collected more than 9 mln views on YouTube. The band caught the attention of world media outlets such as Billboard, Rolling Stone, BBC, Yahoo! Music, The Daily Mirror, USA Today, Mashable, Business Insider, Daily Mail and many others. Their next video was made in collaboration with the German car giant Opel, for the Opel Corsa car advertising campaign. This summer the band performed at the Sziget and Colours of Ostrava festivals. Nowadays they are working on their debut full-length album.
