Jackie O’s 11th Anniversary Extravaganza Set for 1/6-1/7

Jackie O’s is planning on going hard this weekend. On Friday (1/6) and Saturday (1/7), the brewery is inviting imbibers in for one of the hottest parties of the year. 64 taps are split between between the taproom, BrewPub, and the Public House. The sheer amount of rarities, new variants, and old favorites are enough that individuals should search out lodging and a taxi for the weekend.

Even the more common brews (Oro Negro) will keep individual’s taste buds popping through the cold Athens weather. We are particularly excited about Sweet Chocolate Love (taproom; Imperial Chocolate Milk Stout), BB Turtle Fudge (taproom; barrel-aged Imperial Porter with pecans, chocolate, and maple syrup), Nitro Frambrozen Treatment (BrewPub; conditioned on a secret material), the KimChi Berliner (BrewPub; as it sounds); a Kiwi Berliner (BrewPub), Rickhouse (BrewPub a barrel-aged malt liquor); Mandala Mimosa (Public House; Mandala Centennial with grapefruit and oranges) and Enta the Stage (Public House; an Bourbon-barrel aged imperial stout done with The Answer RVA). Jackie Os has also unburied some amount of last year’s Basement Barries for tapping at the public house. The most surprising thing for us about the 11th Anniversary Extravaganza is how approachable of pricing the brewery has pegged each of their brews. A snifter of 2016 or 2017 Spirit Beast is $8, a tulip of Chardonnay Opulence (strong saison aged with Jackie O’s culture in chardonnay barrels) is $8, and Kinda Fuzzy (peach/apricot wheat ale) is a special value at $5 per pint. Other offerings will be rolled out as kegs kick, so if you see something special make it down on Friday.

Tap List:

Beyond the numerous taps that are set up for the day, Jackie O’s is releasing limited run bottles. Bottles are available for sale from 11AM until 9PM (or abouts), while Jackie O’s food cart will be slinging noshables throughout the Extravaganza.

Bottle List:

Lucent (1 per person per day),

Oak Aged Berliner Weisse (1pp/day),

CSAison Reserve (1pp/day)

Bourbon Barrel Dark Apparition (12pp/day)

Bourbon Barrel Vanilla Coffee Dark Apparition (12pp/day)

Scotch Barrel Dark Apparition (6pp/day)

Make it a point to check out Jackie O’s Twitter for additional information regarding bottle counts and permissible places to park.  For those that are travelling to Athens for the first time, there are a number of fantastic restaurants to hit up. Our strongest recommendations have to be Casa Nueva, Thai Paradise (102 W. Union), and Goodfella’s (35 N. Court).

Keep an eye on our beer review section for pieces about Champion Ground (bourbon barrel-aged Imperial Stout with coffee) and Wood Ya Honey with Nuts (bourbon barrel-aged with nuts).
