Primal Static - Panstylistic EP

Primal Static’s Panstylistic EP is a tremendous introduction into the Austin, TX band’s sound. The release begins with Fall Before Your Pride, a track that skillfully blends together Jane’s Addiction and Deliverance-era Corrosion of Conformity. This fuzzy, intricate blend of alternative and rock styles will tattoo itself deep into the minds and hearts of fans, who will be locked into their seat. Hints of Nirvana and Weezer can be heard during Sophia, an emotionally intense effort that uses open spaces to great impact. To Live provides another side to Primal Static.

The track links together blues and psychedelic into an instrumental-heavy effort that tells a tremendous story even before the vocals kick in. The back and forth between the instrumentation and the vox keeps the effort compelling. Of particular note during To Live has to be the guitar and bass, which each are able to shine on their own and contribute to a musically complex and fulfilling effort.

Come Back To Me is the final track on the Panstylistic EP, and it does doubly well in showcasing another facet to Primal Static while uniting the disparate sounds and influences of the band. This ultimate effort is one of our favorites – the band is able to build off of the sound of early-nineties Red Hot Chili Peppers and late-nineties Tool tracks to make for a track that feels much more short than its 4:40 run time would indicate. For additional information about Primal Static, check out their webpage or social media profiles. If the act’s full-length follow up to the Panstylistic EP is as solid as this effort, we’ll absolutely be sold. Give the release a spin and purchase it from Apple Music.
