Remember Jones has just released a new EP, Tranquilizer. The release begins with the titular track. Tranquilizer is a high-energy track that pulls deeply from the soul, R&B, and funk styles. The additional vocals that bolster Remember Jones’ voice mesh well with the martial sort of drumming, making for a track that will appease fans of Ray Charles and James Brown. Remember Jones will immediately draw listeners in with an eclectic and fulfilling track that will hold up to repeat plays. There are just so many things going on during songs like The Stormy Suite, which slows things down. The raw passion and emotion that is presented here is unparalleled; there is a gravity present that sticks around long after the EP finishes. It’s surprising how many things Remember Jones is doing during The Stormy Suite, as he is both crafting a narrative while providing further depth to the composition.

You Got That Somethin’ is a bouncy sort of track that blends together the soul and funk of the initial effort on Tranquilizer with a rich disco-meets-Latin dance sound. Don’t Put Me On Hold keeps that momentum high, with a quick tempo, powerful instrumentation, and backing vocals that make Remember Jones’ own vox pop. Why Don’t They Cry? is the final track on the Tranquilizer EP, slowing things down. Our favorite facet about Remember Jones’ Tranquilizer is how visual the tracks are; one can imagine the New Jersey crowds pairing off and slowly swaying in the summer breeze with the taut dynamic of Jones and the horns, drums, and the rest of the backing band. Few artists are able to come forth and create such a cogent statement with an EP, but listeners will find a voluminous story contained within.
