White Reaper’s Judy French is one of the best songs we’ve heard this August. The track looks back to the power pop and indie rock of the late 1990s and early 2000s. A robust bass line, emotive guitars, and slightly-nasal vocals make for a tremendously taut cut. Particular kudos has to go to the fuzzy guitar solo that starts off the two-minute mark. Splashy drums build up the tempo after that, making the second half of Judy French as energetic as the song’s onset. White Reaper is an act we’ll be keeping our eyes on for 2018.
